Jewelry Tools and More Nlaka'pamux (Thompson) First Nations Artist MIchael Hill established his jewelry making roots the old fashioned way. He was traveling in Venezuela and met Luis Gutierrez a jewelry maestro and genuine street vendor who showed him the basics, right there on the street. The tools and techniques he has adopted are varied. Beginning with leatherwork in the traditional South American style graduating too SilverSmithing. Then incorporating a modern approach too wire work with semi-precious stones and rare fossils. Mike currently spends his summer season in Victoria, on Vancouver Island in British Columbia Canada. In the wintertime, he travels down to Arizona, U.S.A to spend time in the desert with his fellow "Rock Hounds" at the gem shows in Quartzsite and Tucson. |
